Dry Shampoo: The Latest Addition In My Line-Up Of High Rotation Products ♥

Dry Remember how I talked about my Beauty Memory Bank? Uh huh. Dry Shampoo is sooooo one of those products.

Oh yes, I would see all these fancy pictures of it in magazines, accompanied by statements from gushing supermodels exclaiming ''it's unbelievable!'' and ''it changed my LIFE!'', and hear various stylists and hairdressers echo-ing exactly the same thing. ''Revolutionary!'' they would cry. ''Possibly the best invention ever'', magazines would insist.

So, like the massive beauty sheep guinea pig enthusiast that I am, I would tell myself that I must, must, MUST buy some. And months later, here we are. I bought some, and let me just say..

It IS unbelievable! It will change your life! (If by life you mean the occasional bout of oily, greasy, manky, post-exercise hair, that is.) It is revolutionary and gosh, if it isn't one of the best beauty inventions since the GHD, then I don't know what is!

x It's perfect for:

Post-gym time, humid conditions, or simply for those times when you've stayed up way past your time and you seriously need to fool people that no, no you have not been hanging out in a smoky club all night, WHAT are they talking about, you've CLEARLY been home sleeping all night. Look, no-one's here to judge.
So usuallllllly you'd probably just whack on a headscarf or scrape your hair back to try and hide it and defensively say ''grease? What grease? You're mad. My hair is most certainly not greasy OR smoky!'' and huff off in a cloud of indignation. But wait! You don't have to do that any more! Just get yourself a can of dry shampoo and you'll have a scrumptiously squeaky clean mop, minus any shower action. Clever, non?

 x How it works:

It's like hairspray except it's um, not. Basically, you just spray a little bit of it into the roots of your hair, allow it to soak in for a couple of minutes, and then brush it out - now look at that! Robert's your mother's brother! It completely absorbs the  oil, odour and grease.

x Where you can buy it:

Pharmacies, department stores, hair salons and specialist beauty stores.

x Did I mention that it gets you another day of ''salon hair''?

No. No, I did not. So now is probably a very, very excellent time to do so - it gets you another day of salon hair! You know, when your hair's been blowdried to perfection, and you think ''man oh man, I wish my hair could look like this all the time.'' Well now it can! (For another few days, at least.) Just spritz some dry shampoo in your hair, and you're good to go! It's also perfect for when you've got I-straightened-my-hair-a-couple-of-days-ago-and-should-probably-wash-it
-but-it-just-looks-so-good-I-can't-bear-to-syndrome.

x Brands To Look Out For:

Batiste, Klorane and Lee Poker Straight Dry Shampoo ($10-15.)

So minxes! Tell me! Have you tried dry shampoo before? Will you try dry shampoo? What do you think? Let me know in the 'comments' section!

How To Lift Yourself Out Of A Style Rut ♥

Kirsten_dunst_miu_miu_campaign_ha_9

When was the last time you truly, truly felt amazing?

If your answer is ''right now, you silly fool'' then GOOD! But if your answer resembles anything like ''well, when I was a teenager'' or ''before my marriage'' or ''I don't remember'', oh lady! Perhaps we need to lift you out of your style rut. With the day-to-day responsibilities of our jobs, study, relationships and housework, it's unsurprising that some of us have simply stopped putting ourselves first . But it has. to. STOP! If statements such as ''what's the point in making an effort anymore?'', ''I don't deserve new make-up'', ''all my shoes are ugly, broken and worn, but why bother?'' or ''I like my shapeless clothing. There's nobody to dress up for anyway'' have slowly worked themselves into your internal dialogue, it's time rediscover who you really are. Nothing has changed, dollface! Think about it - if you hadn't decided that there was no point in trying anymore or looking your best, you would still be the same you who felt UNSTOPPABLE. Now! Let's get to work!

x Repeat After Me: ''I am a gorgeous, charming and FEARLESS superwoman!''

Remind yourself of this regularly, and even if you don't feel like you are, act as if you do! Write it on a beautiful postcard and stick it on your mirror, or have it printed on a luscious shade of paper and keep it in your wallet. Remember - there is nothing sexier or more alluring than a confident person, and a smile is the best instant facelift! (And they're so enchantingly contagious!)

x Throw Out Anything Which Makes You Feel Anything Less Than AMAZING.

This may sound a little drastic, but it's important! Don't worry, I'm not suggesting you throw out all of your favourite pairs of snuggly tracksuit and pyjama pants (after all, a girl does need things to be comfortable and warm in!), but move these to a separate drawer or cupboard. The idea is to build a wardrobe that makes you feel sexy, attractive and ready to take on the world. Prone to impulse purchases and 'I-don't-know-why-I-bought-this-but-I-did' shopping? Next time you're out, keep this quote from Dita Von Teese in mind:

''I won't buy anything unless it's more amazing than what I already have on.''

Make this your shopping mantra, and remind yourself that you won't settle for anything less than the best.

x Build A Wardrobe Of Stylish Basics.

Every girl deserves to own a phenomenal pair of shoes, a heart-stopping dress, a pair of pants or jeans that lovingly hug your curves and a timelessly elegant trench coat. If you don't own these, make them a priority for your next shopping trip! Why? They can be the building blocks for a number of stylish outfits, and on days where you feel like it's just too hard to get dressed, a belted trench coat or jacket will distract and make you look instantly polished.

x Make A Date With Yourself. Regularly.

Once a week, romance yourself - see a movie alone, visit a decadent restaurant, take ballroom dancing lessons, anything that you desire - just enjoy your own company and leave the partner/kids/friends at home! Plan to do something different that you've always wanted to do - why not enrol in an evening class one night a week?

x Take Your Break At Work. EVERYTIME!

None of this sitting-at-your-desk business! Get out of that wretched air-conditioning (your skin hates it and it's no good for you!) and take time to sit in the park, go for a walk, indulge in a cafe lunch or simply call a friend - savour every moment, and don't for a second entertain any feelings of guilt - you are 100% entitled to do it! Still need a rock solid excuse to take your lunch break? Book an appointment, so that you have to leave the office, and take a lunchtime yoga class, get your eyelashes tinted or see a travel agent!

x Go Out With Your Girlfriends - at LEAST once a fortnight!

Shop, meet for coffee, dance, giggle, make cocktails, anything, just let your hair down and celebrate!

x Remove Any Negative People/Influences From Your Life.

They are holding you back, frowning upon your ideals and stopping you from achieving your potential - you don't need them!

x Learn To Be Content And Positive By Writing A Daily Gratitude List.

Okay, so at first, counting blades of grass may sound more appealing, but hear me out! Learning to appreciate the small things in life helps open our eyes to how wonderful our lives really are, and helps us to experience much more joy and feel content! Start by writing down five things every day, even if it means writing things such as ''the sky looked lovely today'' or ''I didn't even feel like chips today - hooray!'', or simply participate in 'It's Friday!' every week! You may feel silly at first, but I promise, if you do this daily, soon you will truly feel like a happier, richer person!

x Write A List Of Your Dreams.

It doesn't matter if they sound crazy, far-fetched or wild - they're for you! Refer to these constantly, and choose to act on one a week, even if it only means doing something that will be the first step towards making your ambitions a reality!

x Finally, Treat Yourself To A Make-Over. YOU DESERVE IT!

It is likely that you have not done this for yourself for a very long time, or at all, so start planning it today! Go on - get your hair cut and try a completely new colour (what about experimenting with a new side fringe?), have your eyebrows professionally shaped and book yourself in for a manicure - it is almost impossible to feel like anything other than a total princess when you have other people making you look beautiful, and it will be an instant confidence booster! Now. After this, tell yourself that this is the start of a NEW chapter in your life - the one where you live your dreams, feel utterly fabulous and become exactly the sort of person you want to be!

It's Friday! ♥

2001806361_4e530ac627_3

Celebrate and tell us what you just can't get enough of this week!

x Sun-filled Lunchtime Retreats - oh, how I love these! Seriously, is there anything better than basking in the sun, while devouring a deliciously good book or magazine? Now, I know it may only be a small pleasure, but goodness, it honestly makes me so, so happy! This week, my book of choice has been Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (have you all read this? Please do! It is amazing, and the early chapters where she writes about her travels through Italy? Ooh, it's just making me more and more excited to go!). I'm not sure if it's merely the act of soaking up some sunshine, or just the fact that I'm reading a funny, inspiring tale, but if I'm ever feeling a little rattled, this instantly makes me feel better!

x Cupcake Day for the RSPCA - ah! Two of my favourite, favourite things, cupcakes AND animals! How magnificent! I read about this event through Gala Darling's 'Carousel' article, and I got so excited! I am definitely, definitely doing this, *sqqqqqqqqqueeeeeeeeeeeeallllllllllllllllll*! (And if you're in Australia, why not join in?)

x Mid-Year Content - today is the 1st of August! August, I tell you! Can you believe it? At first, this realisation had me a little frightened, but after much reflecting, I realised that I truly, truly couldn't be happier with how this year has panned out so far - and I'm can't wait to see what's in store for the rest!

x The Online Community - what can I say other than, well, wow? It never ceases to simultaneously surprise and delight me! This week, I've met even more amazing new people (thank-you and welcome, lovely new visitors and commenters!), discovered even more amazing new blogs (I've updated my Links I Love page if you're interested in checking them out too, cuties!) and stumbled across even more new amazing services (why hello, Twitter!). It really is incredible.

x New Beginnings & Fresh Plans - okay! I'm going to be a little elusive and not say too much at the moment (soon, soon), but change is in the air, I can just feel it! (And I can't wait, oh, how I can't wait!)

Had a less-than-lovely week? Aw, gorgeous - turn it around with some happy thoughts! Make a list! Share with us your favourite things, your exciting news, your fabulous events! You'll feel better, I promise! (And even if you haven't - join in, because it's all about gratitude, baby!)

Beauty Q & A: How To Do A Smoky Eye ♥

222021145_170e416730_m_2Yesterday, I received an e-mail. I like e-mails.

This particular one was sent from a lovely young lass named Anna, who wrote to me with a question. I also like questions, too:

''Hi Miss Corrine - I hear a lot of people talk about smoky eyes, and have seen lots of pictures of people wearing smoky eyes. The only problem is - I have no idea how to do one. I've tried, but it just doesn't work - could you help me please?''

Why, certainly, Anna!

Just follow these 5 tips for an easy, fool-proof, no-tricky-business way to do a smoky eye! :

1. Firstly, I recommend applying your foundation AFTER you've finished applying your eye make-up! That way if you make any mistakes, you don't have to start your base from scratch again. Don't reeeeaallllllyyy feel comfortable doing that? No problem. If there are any spills, mess, or if any bit of powdery residue hits your finished face, simply dip a cotton bud into your foundation, apply to the appropriate area, and fix.

2. And now for the eyes! Begin by applying a dark-ish hued powder or cream based eyeshadow to your eyelids and into your crease, blending the color upwards and outwards. Think a minx-y charcoal colour, a delectable metallic silver-y hue, or even a smouldering navy blue or emerald based product!

3. Next, using a soft pencil eyeliner, trace across your top lashline from the inner corner to the outer. Then, using the same pencil, slowly dot between your lower lashes (for a more dramatic look, try liquid eyeliner.) Next, gently, gently, gently smudge both lashlines with an eyeshadow pencil or cotton bud.

4. Now, using a a light, neutral-coloured eyeshadow (choose one with a little bit of shimmer and a tiny bit of sheen to it, in a peachy, beige-y,
champagne-y colour), grab a brush and dust liberally over your brow bone area.

5. Finally, finish with two coats of black mascara. (Really want to play up the 'seductive minx' look? Curl your eyelashes before applying it, or apply some false eyelashes to the outer corners of your top lashline. Ooh, you little fox, you!)

Got a question that's leaving you beauty bamboozled? Perplexed by the function of a make-up primer, or just utterly confused as to which mascaras really do work? Send me an e-mail, and I'll do my very best to answer it! (And if I don't know, I'll just ask someone else, so really - it's a win-win situation.)

The Daily Outfit - 26/07/2008 ♥

Today's wardrobe agenda? Casual, casual, casual!

Ooh yes, today was definitely one of those 'I-feel-like-being-supremely-lazy-and-do-not-wish-to-leave-the-house-at-all' kind of days!

Outfit_4 (Although Tom and I did leave the house to go and get a sandwich, which is why I do in fact have actual clothes on and not my pyjamas or bathrobe!) I know. Today? I am all class, hee!

Oddly, I also look enormously pale in this photo.

The details:

x Grey sweater by Marc Jacobs (yum..)

x Striped skinny scarf from Supre ($10!)

x Black broderie anglais dress by Princess Charlotte

x Vintage bangles

x Black stockings

x Black knee-high flat boots (I love the contrast of pretty broderie anglaise fabric mixed with big tough boots!)

What are you wearing today?

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend, my darlings!

It's Friday! ♥

Pinkapartment2Make a list, gorgeous, because it's Friday and it's time to sing it loud and sing it proud!

What are your favourite things this week? What has blown you away, made you giggle, caused you to break out into a smile or made you feel like doing a dance in the middle of the street?

Go on. You know you want to share!

Here's my list:

x THIS (see visual aid to the left) picture - it's of Betsey Johnson's apartment! Isn't it amazing?! Look at that pink recliner, those decadent living spaces and the colour of her walls! Swoooooooooon! It is quite possibly my DREAM apartment.

x Fake fur jackets! Oh, how I love them. I have been absolutely LIVING in mine all week, for the very reason(s) that they're so warm, so cosy and sooooooo luxurious! I love it even more because it only cost me $20, and people tell me that it makes me look 'pimp-like' - haha!

x People Reading 'Miss  Corrine' in Spain! - okay, this is TOTALLY nerdy, but I can't help it! Honestly, I am AMAZED by the wonders of technology, I tell you! You see, the other morning, as I signed into 'Miss ♥  Corrine' (with my morning bowl of porridge and blueberries in hand), I was reading my blog statistics (a clever, clever little device which tells you how many people are reading your website each day, and if they came to your website by clicking over from another website or by just typing it into their address bar), and discovered that two people from Spain had stumbled across here, and translated it through Google into Spanish - and they've been doing it regularly! Ah! I am literally giddy with glee! ¡Hola!, cuties!

x Long, lazy weekend plans - now, as much as I love a good social event and catch-up, sometimes, there is just nothing better than doing, well, nothing! This weekend, I'm going to be spectacularly lazy, and it is going to be great. Oooooooooh, yes, think lounging about, watching trashy, trashy TV shows and movies, and marvelling at the rain!

x The article 'How To Know if You're Living Your Life on Purpose With Passion - 11 Key Tell Tale Signs' - as corny as it sounds, it really did rock my world and get me thinking! Honestly, I feel so, so grateful to do what I do, because I could seriously relate to every single question, and completely agree with all of the steps!

x Other little things? Stacks of new glossy magazines (Cleo, Madison, Grazia - I love you), Rocky Road (not the healthiest snack in the world, but sometimes a girl just needs a chocolate hit!), my boyfriend Tom (he really is the most caring person I know - yesterday, he found a tiny little baby possum, lying on the ground, crying out for it's mother. So without hesitating, he whipped off his jacket and wrapped it around the possum, gathered some fruit for it to eat, took care of it and affectionately named it 'Pinky'. He then took it to the nearest vet, and spent all night worrying about it, hoping that it was okay - I know it sounds silly, but it really, really made me fall a little bit more in love with him!), taking care of myself, an inspiring e-mail from my father and big, fluffy white bathrooms! (Even better if they're freeeeeeeee!)

So what are you waiting for? Share! Build it up and let it fly!

How To Use Illuminator ♥

Illuminator_4Hi!

My name's Illuminator.

You may remember me from posts such as 'Illuminator. Used To Be Part Of My Beauty Memory Bank. Now Just Part Of My Obsession Bank.' and 'When ''Fresh'', ''Glow-y'' and ''Radiance'' Are The Aims Of The Game'!

So! Yesterday I discussed why Illuminator definitely, definitely needs to be in your beauty cabinet/cosmetic bag, and some of you kindly pointed out that while it was all fine and dandy to be talking it up, singing it's praises and generally carrying on like a mad woman about it, there was still the very pressing question of: um, how does one actually use it? Ah, yes. Silly, silly me. How could I forget?

So without any further raving, allow me to present to you all the gospel on how to use/apply/build a small fort with* Illuminator:

x Firstly, it may help you to keep in mind that there isn't just one product which spells out 'I Am An Illuminator: Buy Me!' (Unless of course there is, in which case it is very elusive and I am completely wrong.) I discovered this when I set out to purchase one, and was met with blank looks every single time I enquired about it somewhere. No, although they ARE in fact illuminators, they will often disguise themselves under the names 'luminizers', 'radiance boosting cream', 'illuminating bases', 'liquid illuminizers', 'face highlighters', 'illuminating concealers' and other such sneaky identities, so be prepared for this!

x Now, in particular, one of the questions I received yesterday was from the lovely Katie of the superb Treslola, who asked:

''Where in the lil routine of primer, blush, foundation, concealor etc does it fit?''

Ah, good question!  Generally, Illuminator should be used after your primer, mixed in with your moisturiser or foundation. Why? Because it will give you a foxy, foxy glow. So if you've picked yourself up a 'luminizer', 'radiance boosting cream' or 'liquid illuminizer', use it here and watch that skin sparkle!

x Purchased an 'illuminating base' cream instead? Also good. It's just like a primer (just think of it as an illuminating primer!), but use it after applying your normal primer and then apply your foundation.

x Only interested in focusing on the under eye area? No problem! Grab yourself an 'illuminating concealer' and apply it directly underneath the eye area (after you've put on your foundation, making sure to dab, not grab. And be gentle. Very gentle.)

x Want to highlight various parts of your face? Your best bet is to use a 'highlighter' or a product such as Benefit's High Beam cream, which calls itself a 'luminescent complexion enhancer'. (See what I mean? No mention of the word 'Illuminator' there.) This is currently a major High Rotation Product (HRP) in my beauty routine at the moment, for the simple fact that it makes my skin glow, look healthy, and it scores compliments. How do you use it? After applying your foundation, dab it on your browbone, underneath your eye area, lightly down the bridge of your nose, and on the apples of your cheeks.

Voila! One fresh, fresh, sparkly, shimmery, glow-y young lass indeed.

I hoped this has answered your questions, lovelies, but if not, feel free to ask some more/send me letter bombs**!

xoxo
